Common questions.

How is this different from a chatbot?

It's your face, your voice, in real-time conversation. Visitors and callers see and hear you talking to them — not a generic preset, not a text bubble. The 3D digital double is rigged from one photo, your voice is cloned from sixty seconds of audio, and the whole thing answers in under 400 ms. Bots feel like bots; this feels like a phone call with you.

Where does the AI run?

By default, on our cloud. For Business and Enterprise we offer VPC deployment in your AWS / GCP / Azure account, and for regulated industries an air-gapped on-premise install. The voice and the model never leave the boundary you choose.

How long do you keep data?

Call transcripts and recordings are retained 90 days by default and deletable on demand. Voice clones live as long as your subscription does and can be erased on cancel. We never train models on your data — full stop.

Does the avatar disclose it's AI?

Yes, and we require it. Every Persona deployment includes an audible disclosure at the start of phone calls and a visual indicator on web embeds. This isn't optional. It's required by law in several jurisdictions and it's the right thing to do regardless. Persona is a tool to extend your reach, not to deceive people about who they're talking to.

What happens if I cancel?

Your phone number is released, your voice clone is deleted, your transcripts are wiped on a 30-day delay, and your billing stops. No retention games. You can export everything before cancel via the dashboard.

My double doesn't quite look like me. Why?

The 30-second generation is the first layer of your Persona, not the final one. Producing a photorealistic 3D character from a single photo is one of the hardest problems in computer graphics — the entire industry is working on it, and even the best one-shot models in the world have a quality ceiling that depends heavily on the input photo.

Think of the auto-generated double as a draft. Most people get a great result first try. Some don't, and there are three things that fix it almost every time:

  • Upload a better reference photo (front-facing, well-lit, no sunglasses, neutral expression, both ears visible if your hair allows). Photo quality is the single biggest factor in double quality.
  • Refine in the editor — adjust features, retry the generation, try a different style preset.
  • Move up to Lightcage for a film-grade scan that produces a digital double indistinguishable from you on a Netflix master. This is the same process used for principal cast on major productions.
What makes a good reference photo?
  • High resolution (at least 1024×1024)
  • Front-facing or very slight angle, looking at camera
  • Even, soft lighting — natural daylight or studio light, not harsh sun or one-side shadow
  • Neutral expression, mouth closed or with a slight smile
  • Both ears visible if your hairstyle allows
  • No sunglasses, no hats, no heavy filters
  • Clean background (the system handles this, but a clean original helps)

A LinkedIn-quality headshot consistently outperforms a casual selfie. If you have one, use it.

What's Lightcage and when do I need it?

Lightcage is our film-grade capture process. Multi-camera photogrammetry session, hours of compute, manual quality pass, delivered as a production-ready digital human in 10–14 days. It's what Hollywood uses to make digital doubles of principal actors.

How long does the double take to generate?

The double itself takes 30 seconds. Adding voice cloning takes another 60 seconds (we need a one-minute audio sample). Connecting to your phone, calendar, or website takes a few minutes more. Most users go from sign-up to live deployment in under ten minutes.

Who owns my Persona — me or Enginious?

You do. Your likeness, your voice, your data. We license you the engine that generates and runs your Persona, but the resulting digital double is yours. You can export, delete, or move it at any time.

What languages does Persona support?

Conversation and voice cloning currently work in English (US, UK, AU), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, and Japanese. Phone answering is live in US and Canada; other regions are rolling out through 2026.
